Get ready for an evening of exploration, discovery, and hands-on STEM learning at ECC Science Night!

Our school is transforming into a hands-on science and technology wonderland for one night only! Join us as we explore exciting STEM Careers and discover where your curiosity can take you. You will get to step directly into the shoes of real-world scientists, engineers, and programmers through interactive, hands-on challenges.

Thursday’s Schedule & Grade Times:
To ensure space to explore, we recommend attending during your grade’s slot:

• Grades K–2nd: 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM (Raptor Show at 6:15 PM)

• Grades 3rd–6th: 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM (Raptor Show at 7:15 PM)

• If you can't join us at your designated grade time, please still come by and enjoy the event whenever you can!

 

Here is a sneak peek at the incredible activities and stations waiting for you:

• Meet Native California Animals & Catch the Raptor Show: Get up close with native California wildlife ambassadors from the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation. Plus, don't miss a short, live raptor show featuring a real bird of prey at 6:15 PM and 7:15 PM! Learn how wildlife biologists and environmental conservationists protect our local species.

• Explore Extreme Physics: See the power of atmospheric pressure in action! Watch what happens to an "exploding" marshmallow inside a vacuum chamber and build your own take-home electrical dog tags with the Society of Women Engineers.

• Command Next-Gen Robotics & Tech: Take the controls of cutting-edge technology from NIWC PAC, featuring 3D printers, Virtual Scanners, and meet the famous Boston Dynamics robot dog SPOT!

• Conquer the Buoyancy Challenge: Put on your marine engineer hat with the LabRats team to design, build, and test structures to see how ships float and defy gravity on the water.

• Write Secret Messages in Disappearing Ink: Become a chemical scientist! Use special pH indicator chemistry to write and reveal your own top-secret messages that magically vanish before your eyes with LabRats.

• Examine Ancient Geodes & Fossils: Step into the role of a geologist and paleontologist with LabRats to inspect genuine fossils and the crystal interiors of geodes under high-powered microscopes.

• Extract DNA & Code Jewelry: Unlock the secrets of life and computer science with Illumina by designing your own binary code and genome bracelets!

• Launch Custom Straw Planes: Test the principles of aerodynamics with the Dad's Club as an aerospace engineer—design, fold, modify, and launch your own straw planes to see how far they can soar.

• Crack the Code: Learn the fundamentals of computer programming and algorithm design through hands-on, kid-friendly coding lessons led by The Coder School.

• Mix Polymer Slime: Step into the chemistry lab to explore the strange science of polymers by mixing your own custom, stretchy slime to take home in a collectible egg!

• Complete the Career Passport & Win Legos: Travel to each station, chat with our STEM visitors, collect passport stamps, and enter our raffle for an awesome prize!

Come hungry and support our school! Taco Love will be serving dinner starting at 5:00 PM, with a portion of all sales kicked back directly to our PTA!
