Thank you for a successful, first nine weeks of school!

Dear ECC Families,

As we prepare to enter into our fall break I want to thank you for a successful, first nine weeks of school. Our children are now adjusted and thriving in their classrooms. Parent conferences are going well and we have finally started to feel the crisp air of fall!

Unfortunately, not all news this week is positive. It is apparent to me that some of our ECC families, parents not students, do not understand our traffic and safety rules. Let me begin by stating that the rules in our traffic areas were created to keep children safe and to keep pick up and drop off as efficient as possible. We have two drop off lanes out front and the plan is for all cars to pull as far forward as possible before opening doors. I have heard reports of cars refusing to pull ahead, even when there are long lines stacking up behind them. Remember, while this may not be convenient for you, we are all in this together and the adults who help out in the traffic areas are volunteers! Please respect them and do your part to keep things moving. The time to kiss and hug your children is before they enter the vehicle, not as they are jumping out of the car! Plan play dates, and after school sports arrangements before leaving home. Have backpacks ready and in the child’s reach. Planning ahead, following the rules and being respectful is the one and only right thing to do here and it models positive parenting skills for your child. Please reflect and do your part in the parking lots.

Speaking of volunteers, we need Playground Partner volunteers on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you have an hour to share between 12:00 and 1:00 on any given day, please email me. Finally, if you wish to eat lunch with your child, November 6, 2014 is our annual “Bring your parent to lunch” day at ECC. No need to sign up, just plan on coming into school for your child’s lunch period on 11-6-14. Sign in at the office, grab a badge from Miss Christy and enjoy what I get to enjoy each day, seeing smiling kids having fun with their friends!

Have a great fall break and see you on November 3rd when we return,

Carrie Brown
